Absolutelé Fabulous in the South of France

This past fall we were lucky to travel to the South of France and meet with the Yes Way Rosé winemaking team.  An incredible, jam-packed three days, what made us even luckier was that we had the opportunity to mix business with pleasure. In between tasting rosé blends and selecting paper for the wine label we snuck in some memorable sightseeing (and of course good eating). We  did our best to dress the part, with berets and stripes galore. How could we not? Here, our top 5 highlights.

1. We knew this trip was going to go well when we made our first stop into the Hôtel de Caumont Art Center in Aix and discovered a café in the most beautiful, decadent rosé-pink room. We walked around the stunning French garden, took in an exhibit on the impressionist painter Alfred Sisley, and decided we live here now.

2. Lunch in the garden at the Michelin starred Château Pioline De La Pierre Reboul is not a meal we will ever forget.  Chef Reboul’s inventive and whimsical spin on French classics had us eating Foie gras out of a lipstick tube and cotton candy with olive oil.  It looked as divine as it tasted.

3. A breathtaking Mediterranean boat tour of the Calanques National Park, which started from the port of Cassis, was the most unexpected activity on our journey. Under a crystal clear Provence sky we explored hidden coves, mountainous rock formations, and managed a little photo shoot along the way.

4. We had dinner and celebrated at the Alain Ducasse-owned Inn, Hostellerie de l’Abbaye de la celle, where the rustic Provençal cuisine included a delicious bouillabaisse, local cheese course (omg) and pistachio soufflé! We were in heaven during this meal and even landed a photo with the kitchen staff, who probably thought we were crazy.

5. Aix-en-Provence, the University town and birthplace of Paul Cézanne, is the most lovely city.  We enjoyed sipping rosé while people watching on the Cours Mirabeau and shopping in the old town.  There are charming fountains on hidden back streets and great little museums to pop into, including Cézanne’s final studio.
