Meet the Rosémaker: Lorenza
If there are two people who embody Rosé the most it’s Lorenza Wine founders Melinda Kearney and Michele Ouellet. The mother-daughter business partners are simply gorgeous inside and out, just like the California Rosé they have been making for 9 years (they are OG pink wine pioneers). Read here to learn more about their refreshing and crisp wine, and follow them @lorenzarose for more daily beauty!
What’s your backstoré with wine? Corks have been popping in our household since the 1980’s in Boulder where we offered 20 wines by the glass at one of our restaurants. After moving to Napa Valley (food and wine heaven on earth) Michele arrived on the scene and became a regular at Mustards Grill at age three. Melinda has been in the wine biz since 1990 in production, specializing in sales and marketing and since 2002 running a consulting business launching luxury estate wines.
Tell us all about Lorenza! Lorenza is a dry, true rosé meaning we harvest the grapes early in the season with the intention of making rosé. We have been making rosé since 2008, before it was cool! We are still making the wine in the same way working with 100 year old Carignan, Cinsault, Grenache and Mourvedre vines. We started our brand because we love Provençal rosé and wanted to up the game on our own turf with an authentic rosé coming out of California. We’re thrilled the rest of the world has caught on. We believe that Rosé makes people happy and Lorenza is our way of spreading the love.
Where’s your favorite place to stop and drink the rosé? Of course the obvious: on a boat, by the beach, on a pool floatie. Anywhere Slim Aarons would have been. And we love it in the unexpected, like on top of the mountain apres ski style. End the night with Lorenza as a palate cleanser or night cap!
Who would you most like to have a glass with? The whole world! Each other and Everyone! We love turning people onto rosé, especially the skeptics!
When you aren’t drinking rosé what’s your go-to summer drink? Lillet on the rocks with a splash of sparkling water, aromatic summer white wines, grower bubbles.
Cork or screwcap? Screw cap baby! Rosé on the go!
